Unfortunately not everyone could get a ticket to experience all the performances and talks. Therefore the team of Connection of Minds, aHa!Coaching and Hypershifters facilitated this event with LiveMindMapping using MindMeister.
During the talks live mindmaps were created and simultaneously posted to the web. This enabled all TED fans at home, the office or wherever to not only watch the live video stream but too also view a live mindmap stream on the web! Seeing a livemind map stream helps you to focus on the main and subtopics while not losing …

Is this still mindmapping?
The user has limited possibilities in placing topics where he or she wants. The are roughly four positions where topics can be placed (right, bottom, left, top). Strangely enough the topics on top and bottom are displayed rather as an organogram instead of a radial mindmap. Other mindmapping solutions don’t seem to have this (problem). We can conclude mindmaps created in DropMind Web visually don’t look as good as mindmaps created in other applications. Furthermore ‘hardcore’ mindmappers won’t find …

Online mindmapping offers several advantages when sharing knowledge and information. It furthermore saves time and is perfectly applicable when brainstorming, conducting meetings and ‘project start-ups’. Meisterlabs has just released MindMeister version 6. MindMeister is a Software as a Service for mindmapping. MindMeister claims:
“this is by far our largest – and most time-consuming – redesign since our launch in 2007”
And that’s quite noticeable! The online mindmapping solution has several new functions and the existing product has been improved a lot as well. The testers of Hypershifters are happy to see the latter, some developers forget that adding new (great) functions doensn’t really improve a buggy application. MindMeister wasn’t buggy …

The problem
About a year ago a Hypershifter created a project plan with task information and sent the file as a PDF to a fellow Hypershifter. The latter thought his colleague was kidding. Nearly all text in the (sub)topics had disappeared.
After this strange problem occurred a few more times we discovered the source of the problem, MindManager for Windows export functionality. A mindmap created in Windows and exported as a PDF file can give problems on Mac OSX. When opening the PDF it is possible part of or all text is …

This morning I couldn’t wait to grab my iPhone and download this new app. At last there is a truly intuitive MindMapping app for the iPhone – and it’s FREE! Download it via iTunes Store.

Hypershifters reviews
Hypershifters focuses on the use of visual mapping software. It addresses open source, freeware as well as commercial solutions. The added value Hypershifters provides is in research, advice and consultancy for experienced and inexperienced users. Many users have concerns about the potential of visual mapping in their work environment. This was reason for Hypershifters to create a test team that, co-advised by international experts in the field of visual mapping, critically reviews current products. Not so much viewed from the intricacies of the software, but rather from its scope of applicability. …
