ThinkBuzan iMindMap Ultimate 4.1 Test

Personal Dashboard

Every day there are a number of issues that for one reason or another are important to you: the latest news, the state of affairs concerning

(sub) projects, libraries to consult regularly, phone numbers, addresses, tasks, etc.

Online mind mapping

iMindMap does not offer a web based mapping feature. We expect that to change in the coming year.

Technical and other info

iMindMap is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux

Nearly 200 MB in size, iMindMap Ultimate 4 takes twice as much download time as MindManager 8.

Conclusion

With iMindMap the Buzan organization has created a very attractive package with which according to Tony Buzan true mind maps can be made. Accordingly, the mind maps also look different than do other programs.

The software still has occasional flaws. For example, the Dutch translation is not always exactly correct creating a certain lack of clarity. The pictures are sometimes too simple for a professional application. We noticed that the order of the branches sometimes causes surprises in the presentation mode. Especially the design loss when switching from mind map mode to speed mapping is unfortunate. This version does not allow exporting to Mindjet MindManager.

On the other hand, there are now several co-mind mappers who like to use the package because the imaging is actually very appealing. We very much look forward to further developments at iMindMap!

The package is in our view appropriate for the creative industry, education, individual use, presentations, simple projects and for all people who like to mind map according to the teachings of Tony Buzan, and see in this package a welcome addition to (or replacement of…) manual mind mapping.
