Method Neutral; an opportunity to shift the status quo

Method Neutral is defined as; “Multiple modes of information expressed within a flexible workspace”.
The term “method neutral” is an oxymoron, and IMO; it is a genius breakthrough approach to challenging existing perceptions to the data, information and knowledge development processes.
Graphical information management has been around for a while, and it has unfortunately continued to be restricted to the fringes of the mainstream. This is to a degree, due to a certain radiant technique being touted as being the “one size fits all” solution.
A …

iMindMap app for the iPhone

This morning I couldn’t wait to grab my iPhone and download this new app. At last there is a truly intuitive MindMapping app for the iPhone – and it’s FREE! Download it via iTunes Store.
My iPhone is packed with similar products but this one really stands out. Now you can create beautiful mindmaps with just using your fingers. This is completely different from the other Mindmapping apps where the software determines the way your mindmap looks.  iMindmap Mobile enables you to produce BUZAN proof MindMaps on the small screen of …

From Fringe to Mainstream

Why after almost 40 years; do we have to explain what Mind mapping is to almost every colleague, client and potential we meet?
Most (not all admittedly) who look over my shoulder while I am graphically mapping out information, invariably ask, “What is that”. It does become rather tedious after a while; doesn’t it?
But, as a consultant and trainer, I persevere with this question numerous times, and I go through the same old same old process of taking some through a discovery, which undoubtedly changes their perception of how they may …

A compelling interview with the founder of Mindsystems

I seem to be pleasantly and very willingly diverted into conducting interviews of late. It’s a very enjoyable experience, as it places the interviewer and interviewee in a very intellectually intimate position of acceptance and trust.
John England the founder of Mindsystems is the consummate professional. I have known John for a relatively short span of time, and in this period he has indeed enabled me to glean much from his illustrious past relating to his careers. John has worn a few hats, and has performed his tasks with great success …

Wave to a new way of communicating

Google is developing a new communications platform: Wave. If email should be invented in 2009 the result would be Wave. Email has been around for 40 years. Email has pro’s and cons. Earlier this year Google gave a sneak preview of its new service in a one and a half hour presentation.  Someone made a short visualization on the potential of Wave in a short video which has some resemblance with the ”In plain English” video series.

Currently is Google inviting people to test the beta edition of Wave. Please click here to …

Is it now time for a Visual Mapping Body of Knowledge?

Below is an almost verbatim of my interview with the very unique and professional Chuck Frey during February 2009. I recently revisited the interview to assess the validity of my statements, and I updated a few sentences to align with what I have been recently discussing with Chuck Frey, Philippe Boukobza and other professional visual mapping colleagues. To view the original interview, go here:
Wallace Tait is a professional visual mapping consultant based in the Canadian Province of Ontario. He is the co-author of the e-book Visual Mapping: “A Systematic …

Dashboards for Project Management

Brian S Friedlander PhD and Wallace Tait
Sitting in any vehicle; what’s the centre of visual control (Apart from keeping your eyes on the road PLEASE)? It’s the instrument panel, better known as the “dashboard”. Every vehicle has one, we require them and they give us an accurate measurement of performance and capability.

Software Choices for the Information Manager

Does the image above overwhelm you? Well, the choice of software for the Information manager can indeed be overwhelming.
The collage contains a selection of software apps that are IMO worth the investigation. They are important enough to be termed the leading pack of the mind, visual and knowledge management software arena. Simply Google the names in the collage and you’ll get more info.
